Odunlade Adekola hits 2.2 million instagram followers

Popular Yoruba actor Odunlade Adekola has hit a milestone of 2.2 million followers on Instagram.

In December 4, 2016, Odunlade had over 500,000 followers on the photo sharing platform ahead of other Yoruba actors in the movie industry.

Muyiwa Ademola, has 930 followers at the time of this update as against 297,000 in 2016, while the former special Assistant to Kwara State governor, Femi Adebayo Salami. Femi has 1 million followers as against  271,000 followers in 2016.

Odunlade who couldn’t hide his excitement writes:

“Waoooo! Thank you so much. I appreciate everyone of you. Goodness and mercy will follow you in the mighty name of God.”

As if the 500k wasn’t enough less than one hour after Odunlade appreciated his fans for the follow, another 1,000 found him-hitting 501,000 followers.

He had 26, 944 followers on twitter-@OdunladeAdekola– which showed that he’s more active on instagram. His last tweet was February 7, 2016.

Odunlade Adekola is one of the most popular Yoruba movie actors in the Nollywood Movie Industry.

After surfacing in the Nigerian Yoruba movie industry some years ago, Odunlade Adekola has since become a household name, as the tall, handsome actor has won the hearts of many Yoruba movie watchers both in Nigeria and abroad.

Odunlade Adekola: A Biography

Odunlade was born on December 31st, 1977, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, South-West, Nigeria. He attended Saint John RCM primary school, and later Saint Peter’s college, both in Abeokuta. Odunlade Adekola’s acting can be traced to some drama roles he played during anniversaries in his church, Christ Apostolic Church, Lafenwa, Abeokuta.

Odunlade’s Acting Career:

He wrote a “script” for a comedy play involving just two characters (him and his friend). That was how it all began for this professional actor, director and producer.

Dynamic Odunlade entered the movie industry fully in 2005. He was motivated by notable Yoruba actors. He drew inspiration from Taiwo Hassan (ogogo), Yinka Quadri a.k.a Kura; Adebayo Salami (oga bello), Lere Paimo, and lots of other Yoruba actors in Nollywood.

Isola Durojaye a.k.a Alasari also played a prominent role in Odunlade’s movie career.

Odunlade Adekola’s Movies:

Odunlade Adekola has featured in close to 100 Yoruba movies. He however admitted that the film Asiri gomina wa, in which he played the role of a state governor, was the most challenging assignment of his career, as criticisms and doubts flew about over his ability to play the role successfully.

According to him, he believes that this role opened up the door of many greater opportunities for him.

Is Odunlade Adekola married?

He’s married to Ruth with three kids. Though, the marriage had his ups and downs.

It was once rumoured that there was amorous relationship between Adekola and a Yoruba Nollywood actress, Taiwo Aromokun.  Taiwo Aromokun didn’t debunk the rumour in a later interview.  But the relationship wasn’t working because the tall and handsome actor wasn’t ready to take a second wife.

Apart from being an actor, Kola, as he is well known by fans, was also a Glo ambassador from 2011-2015.
