Asisat Oshoala’s mum poses with daughter’s trophy after Glo/CAF award

When the reigning  African Women’s Player of the Year (2016) Asisat Oshoala made up her mind to take up professional football as a means of living, she got little of her mother’s support.

The reasons were only known to her mother, “parents want the best for their kids,” so goes the popular parental saying.

Mrs. Oshoala wanted the best for her young daughter, but Asisat knew what was good for her as a girl filled with passion for football.

With many laurels, Asisat’s mother was full of joy and thanked Almighty Allah for the success recorded by her daughter on the pitch.

Recently, Asisat Oshoala grabbed her second African Women’ s Player of the Year award on the back of her goals as Nigeria retained their continental crown in Cameroon.

The Arsenal Ladies star won her first when she also helped the Super Falcons emerge African champions in 2014.asisat-oshoala-with-glo-caf-award-2017-infobase

She was nicknamed “Seedorf” after male footballer Clarence Seedorf and has also been referred to as “Superzee” by her teammates.

She was named best player and with seven goals was also the top goal scorer at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
