NpowerNG Build (N-Build) training has begun (on March 1, 2018) nationwide, and beneficiaries of the programme have been expressing their excitement about the programme.

N-Build and N-power scheme would close the skills gap in Nigeria, Presidential Aid on Job Creation Mr. Afolabi Imoukhuede said while speaking in Lagos during the monitoring of or orientation for N-Build volunteers in some training centres in Lagos.

N-Build is one of the arms of the N-power programme of Social Investment Programme (SIP) of the Federal Government, where volunteers are given free training tool kits and consumables, training fee is also paid for by the government while N10,000 is given to each volunteers as monthly allowance.

I am just so excited to see a woman with tools and a tool box. I love it when women do what is solely considered a mans task. Get it lady,” Ilsa Aida @ilsaAida tweeted.

N-Build is known for its motto, Building a skilled workforce of properly and certified service professionals.

Another volunteer, who doesnt want her name mentioned says, “I am aware that the training is for just nine months with N10, 000 monthly stipend. This programme is not about the money. It is about the empowerment, which is enough to liberate serious volunteers from poverty.

I don’t want to be given fish, I want to be thought how to fish, and that is the essence of this programme. I know that N10,000 can never sustain anyone for a month in this present Nigerian economic situation, but the knowledge will be an everlasting ones.

I give thanks to the Federal Government for organizing this job initiative programme to lift the youth out of poverty,” she said.

One of the training centres is the Auto Sector training Centre, Motohaul Limited, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Automobile is one of the units of the N-power Build programme.

Some participating state owned centres of the underlisted states-Lagos, Niger, Benue, Oyo, Delta, Kaduna, Osun, Edo, Adamawa, Katsina, Cross River and Yobe-are yet to submit their institutional bank account,“@npower_ng tweeted.

Change to progress with the handle @shittu10 believes that the empowerment programme needs more publicity in order to let Nigerian people know more about the free training programme, “You definitely need more publicity for tool boxes distribution. It is a major milestone in building capacity of our people. Let the people know the SIP programmes are real. Do videos of distribution states by states and post online.”

@Ismailtaurie congratulated the volunteers urging them to make good use of the opportunity, “Congrats to beneficiary and God bless Mr. President.”

Friend of the Masses with the handle @olorunnipa3, “Congratulations to npower and the beneficiaries. First of its kind, but don’t forget to pay 2016 beneficiaries February stipend.

While others praised the innovative training programme, critics of the APC-led government say the training isn’t enough to salvage the large number of unemployed Nigerian youths from poverty.

Infobase take:

Whatever the critics say, FG deserves commendation for the training. We believe that empowering the youths is not a day job. It will be worthwhile if successive governments continue to empower its youths.

It would be recalled that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in a recent report say Nigerians are getting poorer. This problem can only be solved if jobs are created with a sustainable economic policy.

I urge the beneficiaries of N-power build to maximize this opportunity and acquire the skills needed for self-employment and economic development,” Mr. Usenobong Atangaedi advised volunteers in a tweet March 1.

We wish all NBuild volunteers the best as their journey to training begins in all the 36 states of the federation.
