How it went
The exercise was conducted under the presence of heavily armed security operatives, an insider say, there were over 2,000 combined security men on ground, “so as to prevent what transpired last week Saturday.”
Unlike last week, delegates were mandated to vacate the hall after casting their ballots so as to avoid any kind of rowdiness.
Fayemi’s victory prepares him ahead for the political battle against Prof. Kolapo Olusola Elaka (PDP), incumbent deputy governor to Mr. Ayodele Fayose, who defeated Fayemi in an election four years ago.
Fayemi, an APC candidate, is a minister of solid minerals in Abuja. He has vowed to reclaim his “seat” in government house, relying on powers from Abuja.
But the incumbent governor, a PDP man, Fayose has also boasted that Ekiti Government House isn’t vacant for opposition.
Eleka’s political history isn’t strong in the state, but his boss, Fayose, is deploying all resources within his reach to maintain PDP grip on the state for the gentle OAU professor.
While PDP flagbearer is from Ikere, second largest city in Ekiti, Fayemi of APC is from Isan-Ekiti in Oye-Ekiti local government area of the state.
