Mangoes are one of the natural fruits widely consumed in the world because of their wide range of nutritional benefits and accessibility.
In the South West, Ogbomosho, Oyo State, is prominent for its huge presence of mango plantations than any other states in the West here in Nigeria.
Students of the institution situated in the town (Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH) take great advantage of the fruits during its season.
Some of the popular areas you can find mango trees in Ogbomosho include Under G, YOAACO, LAUTECH Campus, and other villages under the ancient town.
Ogbomosho is the home town of the former Premier of the Western Region, Chief Ladoke Akintola, there are mango trees in his compound too.
The town is known for fruits generally. Hardly can you find students buy mango during the seasons.

A study by the Harvard School of Public Health’s Department of Nutrition have been able to establish that eating mango will help reduce the risk of colon cancer.
Apart from the study by Harvard, Texas AgriLife Research have also tested mango polyphenol extracts on colon, breast, lung, leukemia, and prostate cancer tissue.
They established that mangoes were shown to have some impact on all cancers tested but “were most effective with breast and colon cancers.”
So, eating mango is beneficial to the general well being of the body.
