Ambode launches second term ambition, “let’s achieve more,” he says

Lagos State Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has declared his intention to seek re-election in 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

He publicly made his intention known at the open ground in Alausa, telling his supporters that there was more to be done and he was not tired.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Ambode had earlier picked his nomination form for a second term at the APC Headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

He said:

“In these three and a half years as your governor, I have seen visible proof that we can achieve unbelievable things when we all come together with no more than our belief in our dreams.

“We achieved because you believed. But there is still a lot more to be done. But I am not daunted. I am not tired and I am sure you feel the same way because we all envision a better Lagos, a Lagos of our dreams,” he said.

Believe again

Ambode while addressing his supporters called them to believe in him again just the way they did in 2015.

“I ask you to believe again, and together, let’s achieve more.

“Exactly four years ago, I called on you to join me in a journey of selfless service to build a secure and prosperous Lagos State driven by a vibrant economy and supported by quality service, equity and justice.

Thank you for believing in me

The governor showed appreciation to the electorates in Lagos, “I thank all members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress; our political leaders, most especially our National Leader, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for giving me the platform to contribute to the further growth and development of our state.

Federal lawmakers have praised the decision of the governor to seek reelection, saying he deserved a second term.

A senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District Gbenga Ashafa, and a member of the House of Assembly, Mr Tunde Braimoh, are some of lawmakers that have thrown their full support to Ambodes’ declaration.
