If there is any candidate in the Nigeria’s upcoming general elections 2019 that has audacity, it’s Obiageli (Oby) Ezekwesili.
A chartered accountant by profession, Ezekwesili has audacity of hope that Nigeria WILL be great, in one of her interviews we saw on Channels’ Sunrise Daily on October 8, 2019, a few hours her party Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) nominated her.
In her capacity as a mother and wife, Mrs. Ezekwesili is a successful woman. Combining politics with family isn’t an easy task.
While as an internationally recognised personality, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili was a co-founder of Transparency International, where she served as one of the pioneer directors of the global anti-corruption body based in Berlin, Germany.
After leaving office as a minister in Nigeria, she was appointed Vice-President of the World Bank (Africa Division) from May 2007 till May 2012.
Prior to her invitation by Nigeria’s Government, Ezekwesiili was working with Professor Jeffrey Sachs at the Center for International Development, Harvard.
You may not consider this as a political achievement, but to us at InfomediaNG it is. Because holding political office in Nigeria without being compromised is a hard knot to crack.
During the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, she served as Federal Minister of Solid Minerals (June 2005) and then as Federal Minister of Education (June 2006).
Before then, she was the Pioneer head of the Budget Monitoring and Price Intelligence Unit (Due Process Unit), the position that earned her, “Madam Due Process.”
She’s renowned to have brought sanity to public procurement and how contracts were awarded within government circle.
She drew the master plan of the Bureau for Public Procurement legislation, the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) legislation and the new Minerals and Mining legislation during her stay in the presidency.
Madam Due Process has also served as the Chairperson of NEITI and led the first ever national implementation of the global standards and principles of transparency in the oil, gas and mining sector.
She was able to market Nigeria’s Solid Minerals to the global community, leading to Nigeria’s recognition as the as a credible mining investment destination.
When she talks men who are not really are shake, no wonder in one of her recent speeches, she challenged incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari to a debate.
“I love to be underestimated. This is our opportunity. We have no reason to vote to continue to fail. The upcoming election is going to be brutal. It’s going to dangerous, but we’re determined to salvage Nigeria,” Madam Due Process Oby as she was fondly called said.

Why is she running?
“My government will substitute oil focused governance with human capital governance. Today we have 13.5 million kids out of school. That’s a ticking bomb and things must change. Under my watch, education will be the new economy; education will be the new oil.”
Nigeria needs a leader that will make things work, and we wish her the best as she stays head to head with other contestants, who are mostly men, in the 2019 elections.
