Uyo in Akwa Ibom State has been hit by N-Power Build registration fraud, where prospective applicants were been asked to obtain N-Power form for 1,000 Naira.
A prospective NBuild applicants reported the case on our dedicated WhatsApp Group for the job initiative programme, Infomedia N-Power Guide.
One Mr. Emmanuel Iwat, whose office was said to be located at Two Lane, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State was reportedly selling N-Power forms to applicants.
The man was also reported to have another office located in Ikot Ekene.
Recalled N-Power Team announced this month that N-Build registration would commence but was later postponed till further notice.
How to avoid N-Power Registration Fraud
For you to avoid scam at this time, here are some tips to help you avoid N-Power registration fraud:
1.) N-Power registration is free. Don’t pay anyone who requested money from you because the Social Investment Programme has been initiated to engage the unemployed Nigerian youth.
“The process of applying for and/or being selected for the N-Power programme are open and transparent. Registration and selection of the N-Power programme is absolutely free,” N-Power said some times ago in a disclaimer.
2) No one has influence over the selection process of N-Power programme. You don’t need to know any politician to be selected in any of the programmes of the job initiative programme.
“Any claim by any individual and or group suggesting any influence of a political religious or similar nature will be a factor in the N-Power programme is false and should be rejected.”
3) You don’t need to belong to any political party for you to have a successful registration and selection.
“There is no truth in any claim that suggests there are set allocation or quota under the N-Power programme for any political group or party.”
4) N-Power Social media platforms are the official channels where you can get first hand information about the programme, follow. You can report such cases directly to the N-Power Team.
“Exchange of money and/or services for placement in the N-Power programme is prohibited. Any individual and/or group making any financial request or similar demands from any applicant do so fraudulently and must be reported to the appropriate authorities.”
5) N-Power Build portal was not accepting applications at the time of this report. For someone to be collecting registration money from you is an indication to the fact that it’s a fraud.
Even when the portal start accepting applications FG will never ask you to pay.
“The Federal Government has not and will not place additional burden on citizens who wish to be employed.”
6 Another way to avoid N-Power fraud is to disregard anyone who asked you to present your BVN or party membership card for registration. The FG’s NSIP programme doesn’t need your political party membership card.
As for BVN, you’d only be asked this after you’ve been successfully selected for processing of your payment.
