Despite criticism over sacking of CNJ Onnoghen, Buhari vows to continue to fight corruption

Buhari takes APC Campaign Rally to Osun State

President Muhammadu Buhari is unperturbed by the criticisms of his action against the sacking of Chief Justice of Nigerai Walter Onnoghen as he vowed never to stop fighting corruption.

Buhari stated this during his presidential campaign on Saturday in Osogbo, Osun State, South West Nigeria.

Buhari frankly said anyone caught misappropriating public funds would be made to face the wrath of the law.

“We are doing our best. People are being investigated and prosecuted and we will continue to do that,” the president said.

On security:

President Buhari said his administration had made tremendous progress in securing the strongholds of Boko Haram insurgents.

“The reason we are here is to tell you the condition we met the country and the promises we made in 2015.

“When we came in 2015, 17 local governments in Yobe, Borno States and other parts of the North-East were under the control of Boko Haram but today we have liberated them all.

“The only thing they are doing now is targeting soft places like motor parks, and marketplaces,” he was quoted as saying by The Punch

On the economy:

The President said his FG-led government had improved the agriculture sector, saying Nigeria now producing its own food.

Buhari, however, appealed to Osun people to vote for him and other All Progressives Congress candidates during the election.

Speaking in the same vein, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo appealed to the people not to allow themselves to be deceived by the Peoples Democratic Party.

Osinbajo said PDP does not have anything to offer than to take the country backwards.

The vice president urged the people of the state to vote massively for APC for the continuation of the good work.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola assured the president of massive vote during the election.

Oyetola, who noted that Osun was the first to deliver for the president in 2015, said the same would be repeated in 2019.

It’s going to be a very interesting contest between Atiku of PDP and Buhari of APC in the crucial February 16 Presidential election.

What makes it more interesting is the fact that both of them are Muslims and from the Northern part of Nigeria.

This means that they will be investing their energies more on the region where their strengths lie.
