The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has berated the action of y the Independent National Electoral Commission, to shift an election a few hours before its conduct.
The Adamawa-born politician said he’s shocked, however, admonished INEC to make sure that the sensitive materials already distributed are in safe hands.
He spoke at his residence in Yola, Adamawa State on Saturday.
Atiku said, “I am shocked with the postponement of the election. You don’t postpone an election few hours to its conduct. I am going to Abuja to attend an emergency meeting of the PDP and decide the next step. I am not dampened by the postponement.
“As long as the sensitive materials that have been distributed already are kept in a safe place, there is no cause for alarm. I am appealing to Nigerians to please come out and vote and to please be patient. Whatever the stakeholders decide at the meeting in Abuja will be communicated to Nigerians.”
Recalled that the postponement of the elections by INEC had attracted worldwide condemnation considering the fact that the Professor Mahmod Yabuku-led INEC echoed it a few days ago that nothing could make the electoral shift the general elections.
PDP condemned the shift, accusing President Buhari of complicity aimed at manipulating the process.
He made a last-minute U-turn, saying he needed to reschedule the election due to logistic reasons.
