Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor-elect of the just concluded supplementary election in Adamawa.
Fintiri who contested under the umbrella of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) defeated the incumbent Governor Muhammadu Bindow.
Fintiri polled 376,552 votes while his closest rival and incumbent governor of the state Muhammadu Bindow of APC scored 336,386 votes.
Atiku in a tweet on his verified Twitter page said:
“Congratulations to the man of our people, Governor-Elect Ahmadu Fintiri. The hope that our people in Adamawa repose in you is well placed and I look forward to working with you to make our state great again. -AA
Born on October 27, 1967, in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa, Fintiri is a graduate of History from the University of Maiduguri.
Before he emerged the flagbearer of his party and winner of the Adamawa governorship election, Fintiri was the Speaker of Adamawa House of Assembly in 2014.
He was the Acting Governor in July 2014, following the impeachment of the then governor, Murtala Nyako.
