- Berated APC chairman for endorsing Lawan as Senate President
- Lawan will be stooge of Buhari
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) , Adams Oshiomhole, treats distinguished senators like his students, a Senator-elect for Osun East Senatorial District, Chief Francis Fadahunsi, has said.
He alleged that the National Chairman of the party has belittled senators to the point of treating them like school pupils.
Fadahunsi made the statement through his media aide, Sam Segun-Progress, berating Oshiomhole over his endorsement of Senator Ahmed Lawan as the next Senate President.
He likened the relationship between Oshiomhole and the senators elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to school teacher and school pupils.
Senator Lawan may be stooge of Buhari
The PDP senator-elect warned that Senator Lawan may at the end be seen as a stooge of the executive with the way the party is going by his adoption.
“What is the business of the executive with the election of principal officers of the National Assembly? The way the party is going about it is exposing Senator Lawan.
“The action of the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, is like that of a headmaster giving instructions to his pupils.
“The APC ought to be discreet with its lobbying, not grandstanding about imposing an anointed candidate on senators. This is because the party is exposing Senator Lawan to the danger of being viewed and labelled as a stooge of the executive.”
The battle of who becomes the senate president of the 9th National Assembly still rages within the ruling APC.
However, the opposition PDP are closely monitoring the situation for a possible crack within APC for them to tap on.
The contest is between two Northern senators: Ahmed Lawal and Ali Ndume.
While Lawan is the anointed candidate of the presidency, Ndume is on his own working out plans on how to out smart the power APC cum presidency.
