National publicity secretary of opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Kola Ologbondiyan has expressed his optimism that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will win at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Mr Abubakar was the presidential candidate of PDP in the just concluded presidential polls where his opponent and incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari was declared as the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Adamawa-born politician and his his party PDP is challenging Buhari’s victory at the tribunal.
At the first hearing, APC urged the court to throw out Atiku’s case on the ground that the PDP candidate wasn’t a Nigerian origin. APC says Atiku hails from Cameroon.
Reacting to the APC’s claim, the PDP publicity secretary said APC has already lost the case by claiming that Atiku is from Cameroon.
In a his tweet, Ologbondiyan said:
“You are accused of stealing meat from the general household cooking pot by fellow household members and your best response was- “he is not a member of the household, he is a Cameroonian” The things we hear from our neighbors though…. Stay calm…@officialKolaO
#AtikuIsComing” apparently expressing optimism that PDP and its candidate will reclaim the alleged stolen mandate at the tribunal.
As usual, Nigerians have reacted to the the APC claim, some of who are Atiku’s admirers.
kesiena adams: APC and BUHARI has told us what they know of Atiku, its time for PDP and ATIKU to tell us the jubril of Sudan impostor/ Dead Buhari. Because it seems Nmandi kalu is been vindicated here
Solomon Adamu: I wonder why APC will adopt that kind of delay tactics! Looking at Atiku’s petition there is nothing to defend there. APC needs not waste tym adopting delay tactics coz Atiku’s petition is dead on arrival coz D petition is based on grounds dat don’t exist marry with wrong figures
Cyprian: Are we suppose to talk about atiku being a camororian or a Nigerian all we need is good governance a government that care about the of citizens that should be the pamriy assignment
Ivoh: I was wondering if APC actually said that. It is the most absurd statement I have heard recently. Nawa o
Chris: Absurdity is the name of this group of people called apc, see where they have brought Nigeria to,a place where kidnapping, armed robbery, herdsmen and bandits has become the order of the day, people have become afraid to move on our highways. What a pityfor Nigeria
Mark D1: Atiku will surly reclaim his mandate and it will be like a film it will be a remarkable thing something that has not happen in Nigeria before, PDP should not give up on this matter because i believe that that justice shall surly prevail.
Innocent Nkire: APC is a very funny political party filled with confused elements. Atiku is now from Cameroon because he went to Election Tribunal. But he contested the presidential election as a Nigerian. Nigeria can never improve under APC government.
Some Nigerians say the claim of the APC is one of the delay tactics employed by the ruling party to buy more time.
The drama continues.
