Bukola was born on 19th of December 1962 into a rich and powerful family. Of course, he was advantaged from birth, and it played a huge role in his policies prowess.
He is the son of Olusola Saraki ( a powerful politician who served as a Senator of the Nigerian Second Republic and a former Governor of Kwara State)
The name of his mother is Florence Saraki, and his sister Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki also grew to become a Nigerian senator (she was elected to represent the Kwara central Senatorial district under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party)
Saraki, being born into an elite family, was able to travel outside the country for his education – he attended King’s college in Lagos and Cottenham college in the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1981. He also schooled at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1982–1987.
Bukola worked as a medical officer at Rush Green Hospital, Essex for one year before coming to Nigeria to work as a director of Societe Generale Bank ltd from 1990 to 2000.
Saraki, one way or the other, also found himself being appointed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo as special assistant to the President budget in 2000. He has also serves as GLOBE Nigeria’s President.
He married Mrs. Toyin Saraki and their union have been blessed with two children – Oluwaseni Saraki and Tosin Saraki.
Bukola Saraki As A Politician
Saraki has been one of the most successful politicians in Nigeria. He has been the Senate presidency since 2015 and he left the office in 2019. Although he got to the position via the All Progressives Congress, he is currently a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
While a member of the All Peoples Congress (APC), he played a big role in the Party’s ability to snatch power out of the hands of the PDP.
While he was the President of the Senate, he faced various challenges and issues, but was still able to sail to an extent.
Bukola took a big step to contest for the President of the country in 2019. Unfortunately for him, he could not win the primary election (he and other contestants lost to former vice president Abubakar Atiku)
It should also be noted that Bukola has been the Governor of Kwara State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party from 2003 to 2011 (before he switched to APC ahead of the then 2015 General Elections)
