The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest an alleged Boko Haram logistics supplier Samuel Chikwedum. He was arrested by counter-insurgency operation, Lafiya Dole Theatre Command.
According to a statement by the Army, Chikwedum was caught en route to Baga town, heading towards the Lake Chad region with contraband goods.
Lake Chad region is the stronghold of the deadly terrorist group where they’ve killed hundreds of Nigerians and render thousands of Nigerians homeless.
He was subsequently paraded before journalists and his goods and vehicle were destroyed.
Parading him, the GOC 7 division, Brigadier General Aliyu Ibrahim says the suspect had also attempted to bribe personnel at the point of arrest and during interrogation.
Chikwedum, however, denied the accusations, insisting that his business is legitimate and that he never attempted to bribe his way out of the arrest.
Channels TV quoted him as saying, “There is nobody that I have attempted to bribe. What I told about them is the condition of this nation where the judiciary judgement are disobeyed.”
