Makinde begins permanent acquisition of LAUTECH for Oyo

Plan by Governor Seyi Makinde to permanently acquire Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) for Oyo State Government has begun.

Part of the plan was the inauguration of a five-member committee to work with a counterpart committee from Osun State to deliberate on the ownership of LAUTECH, a jointly co-owned and managed by Oyo and Osun states.

The committee’s mandate was to resolve the perennial challenges facing the university due to the ownership crisis by securing a divorce.

Inaugurating the committee, Governor Makinde said that Osun and Oyo states would continue to remain brothers in other areas.

The five-man committee members are:

  1. Professor Ayodeji Omole (Chairman of the Committee),
  2. Oloye Jumoke Akinjide,
  3. Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN),
  4. Professor Oyelowo Oyewo,
  5. Professor Daud Shangodoyin

They were charged “to look into the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) ownership and other related issues.

“The Committee’s mandate is to, in a manner of speaking, secure a divorce for Oyo State from joint ownership of the university with Osun State.

“I thanked them for accepting to serve and urged them to put their hearts into this work and submit a preliminary report in four weeks,” he said on LinkedIn.
