Again, the National Coordinator of N-Power Programme Mr Afolabi Imoukhuede has met with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management & Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouk in Abuja.
The meeting, we gathered was to discuss activities around the youth empowerment program, challenges and the way forward.
Recall that the minister met with top management team of N-Power a few days she took over the new ministry in 2019.
In their previous meeting, they discussed about stipend and re-verification of genuine beneficiaries of the programme. The decision led to a slight delay in the payment of September and October 2019 stipends of the volunteers.
Sharing the update on her Twitter page, Ms Sadiya Farouq tweeted, “I was briefed by the @npower_ng team led by the cluster head, Mr Afolabi and we discussed activities around the program, challenges and solutions.”
There are reports that the first batch of programme popularly called Batch A (2016) might be disengaged February 2019, the N-Power office is yet to issue an official statement regarding the rumour.
Is something big coming soon?
First, the second batch (2017) volunteers are yet get devices and questions about when the distribution would commence is in the mouths of volunteers.
Two, the 2016 batch of beneficiaries are not sure when they would be disengaged and possibly they discussed it.
But at the time of this report, they are yet to make public what the meeting centred on.
Reactions of N-Power beneficiaries
Some N-Power volunteers who flooded her page are asking questions, see them below:
Olayemi: Nice to see you again, mr afolabi, we miss u alot. Please, the outcome of the meaning should be permanency. 2016 beneficiaries want permanency and penshionable job. Don’t let us go back to the street. Pleaseeee.…
Ned: Well done. More grease to your elbow. I only wish the 2016 Npower beneficiaries can be absorbed into various federal government establishments or paramilitary organizations. YES @MBuhari CAN DO IT.
Isaac: Good one. I hope @fola37 has included in his briefing that batch B
@npower_ng volunteers are yet to get their devices.
Rabiu: Dear Honorable Minister, Mrs. @Sadiya_farouq , I constantly check your handle to get the latest feeds on the @npower_ng program. Great work from all of you, it’s been a pleasure being one of your beneficiaries.
Ibrahim: Good jobs by honourable minister. Please N- teach are doing well in schools, we plead you to absorb them in them with permanent teaching job in their PPA to avoid shortage of teachers at the end of their program, especially 2016 beneficiaries. Thanks
Babajide: Good, what is the plan for 2016 set,why not talk with state government to absorb those who are hard-working going to their places of assignment and absorb some into fg parastatals, does Npower has a plan or blueprint, exiting the beneficiaries without a sustainable plan.
We’ll keep you updated.
