SARS is a special unit in the Nigeria Police Force which means Special Anti-Robbery Squad. It was created to reduce the incidence of robbery across Nigeria.

However, officers of the unit turned themselves to blood-sucking vampires. They rob innocent citizens of their possession, harass anyone who asks a question and they engage in extra-judicial killings.

Their heinous acts are an extension of police brutality in Nigeria. They’ve killed many Nigerians without being held accountable.

Several times, Nigerians had taken to social media to vex their anger on the government but to no avail.

End SARS Protest

End SARS protest started one of the trending discussions on Twitter on October 3, 2020, when a video showing a SARS police officer shoots a young Nigerian in front of Wetland Hotel, Ughelli, Delta State and took away his car (Lexus SUV).

The trending video caused a public outcry on social media, especially on Twitter, with the #ENDSARS hashtag, which has now been used more than a million time

It started like the usual social media rant which usually goes off the trending radar within 24 hours, but NO.

By Thursday, October 8, 2020, nation-wide protests on ENDSARS started with horrible videos and pictures showing police brutality, harassment and extortion in Nigeria.

Momodu Ibrahim is one of many Nigerians who were unlawfully arrested and killed by the members of SARS and police across Nigeria.

The protests were led by young Nigerians in different cities alongside many activists and celebrities.

As usual, the Nigeria Police Force deployed his men to disrupt the protests in some cities, throwing teargas and shooting at unarmed peaceful protesters.

End Sars protesters were abused by policemen in Abuja, Lagos, Oyo and Osun States leading to the killing of one of the protesters Jimoh Isiaq in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

The youths who were unperturbed continued with the protest calling for reforms and accountability in police operations.

During the protest, youths launched a platform for support and there are volunteers among them such medical doctors, lawyers, engineers and creative writers in playing different roles in making a protest a success so as to achieve their goals. At the time of this report, End SARS Soro Soke Online Radio was launched for a live update about happenings on the protest across Nigeria.

Hundreds of Nigerians had been brutalised in the past by the police, in many cases, they’re killed without justification.
