Why has Firefox, Chrome ended support for Windows XP and Vista users?

Microsoft in 2014 ended support for Windows XP, this was followed by Google Chrome, and in 2017 Microsoft ended its support for Windows Vista.

“Such older platforms are missing critical security updates and have a greater potential to be infected by viruses and malware,” Marc Pawliger, Director of Engineering and Early Notifier at Google Chrome says in a blog post three years ago.

Tech geeks will definitely be aware of this, but majority of prospective buyers who know little or nothing about operating system may fall victim of this.

“Unsupported operating systems receive no security updates, have known exploits, and can be dangerous to use, which makes it difficult to maintain Firefox on those versions,” Firefox says.
