- Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program
- Experience: 1 to less than 7 months
The work setting is a hospital or home for the aged; nursing home or home for senior citizens and the successful applicants will earn CAD$1,033.2 per week.
Security and Safety checks on the applicant are child abuse registry check; child welfare check; and immunization records
Others are tuberculosis test; criminal record check; basic security clearance; and Adult Abuse Registry
Required Skills
Applicants of this Resident Care Aide Job must have the following skills:
- Serve meal trays and feed patients
- Administer suppositories, colonic irrigations and enemas;
- Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher;
- Make beds and maintain patients’ rooms
- Take patients’ blood pressure, temperature and pulse;
- Maintain inventory of supplies
- Collect specimens;
- Bathe, dress and groom patients;
- Supply and empty bed pans
- Answer call signals;
- Deliver messages, reports, requisitions and specimens between departments
- Weigh, lift, turn and position patients;
- Administer first aid in emergency situations;
- Accompany patients on outside recreational activities
- Must also be able to perform other duties related to patient care and comfort
According to the employer, the applicant must be ready to work under pressure while carrying out repetitive tasks.
The job is physically demanding and required details to attention, and ability to distinguish between colours among others.
