Nigerian-born technology entrepreneur Festus Atu Otabor has launched WillsRecord, a Silicon Valley-headquartered artificial intelligence platform designed to unify music creation, streaming, distribution, and monetisation into a single digital ecosystem.
The startup was legally incorporated as WillsRecord Inc. in the United States and WillsRecord Ltd. in Nigeria on September 25, 2025, with registration number RC – 8860443.
The AI-powered music company aims to address long-standing fragmentation in the music technology sector by combining generative audio software, digital distribution, and audience rewards under one platform.
What’s Willsrecord Bringing to the Table?
While established technology conglomerates and media companies offer standalone AI tools for music generation or separate streaming infrastructure, WillsRecord is seeking to establish an integrated category it terms the “AI Music Economy Ecosystem.”
Integrated Architecture: Unifying Music Creation and Distribution
The platform consolidates a multi-tier production and commercial stack, intending to allow creators to move from initial song concepts to commercial monetisation without utilising multiple disconnected software services.
According to official announcement materials released by the company, the platform’s integrated software suite encompasses:
- Generative Creation Tools: AI-assisted lyric writing, automated song generation, and custom beat modelling.
- Vocal & Engineering Modules: AI voice cloning, automated mixing and mastering, and track separation capabilities.
- Asset Protection & Synchronisation: Video synchronisation functionality and a digital song vault for intellectual property management.
- Distribution & Enterprise Systems: Global digital distribution pipelines, creator monetisation mechanisms, and enterprise Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
By opening studio-grade production and distribution tools to independent artists, the platform seeks to lower financial and technical barriers that have historically limited access to major recording studios.
Monetisation Framework: Extending Financial Incentives to Listeners
A key structural distinction in the WillsRecord business model is the introduction of financial incentives for passive music listeners alongside content creators.
Traditional music streaming platforms direct subscription and advertising revenues primarily toward record labels and rights holders. In contrast, WillsRecord incorporates a proprietary digital rewards ecosystem, designated as “WillsCoin,” which allows listeners to accumulate rewards through active streaming, content engagement, music sharing, and creator support.
“Africa has given the world some of its most loved music. I want Africa to also help build the technology and the economy behind it,” said Otabor, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of WillsRecord Inc.
“WillsRecord is designed so that a songwriter in Lagos, a student in Abuja or a producer in Nairobi can take an idea to a finished, distributed and earning song, all in one place,” Otabor added.
Geographic Strategy: Connecting Silicon Valley to African Tech Hubs
Major technology companies continue to invest heavily in generative audio capabilities, yet the broader creative economy remains divided across disparate creation tools, streaming storefronts, and royalty tracking networks. WillsRecord is positioning its end-to-end framework directly within this operational gap.
The enterprise maintains its primary technology operations in Silicon Valley while leveraging operational links to creative and digital communities across Africa. Otabor framed this dual-region strategy as part of an evolving dynamic in global technology development.
“Africa is no longer simply consuming innovation; it is creating it,” Otabor said, highlighting the platform’s reach across international creative centres including Lagos, Abuja, Accra, Nairobi, and New York.
Statements regarding the platform’s market category and status as the world’s first unified AI music economy reflect WillsRecord’s internal research and commercial positioning, according to company disclosures.
