The self-proclaimed Deputy Prime Minister of the outlawed United States of Biafran Government in Exile, Ngozi Orabueze, has announced the recruitment of agitators into the Biafran security forces.

Ngozi, who serves as deputy to Simon Ekpa, the Finland-based self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the United States of Biafran Government in Exile, made this announcement on December 27, 2024, via a tweet from her account, @ngoziora.

The announcement, jointly signed by Orabueze and Solomon N., identified as the Secretary of Defence, was titled: “Announcement of Conscription Call to Serve the United States of Biafra Security Forces.”

She disclosed that the recruitment would encompass the “Biafra Defence Forces, Biafra Liberation Army, Biafra Navy, Biafra Airforce, and Special Squads.”

The statement outlined a decentralized recruitment process involving state commanders, deputy commanders, state administrators, and special trainees.

Orabueze stated that the initiative aims to strengthen the outlawed group’s capacity to confront Nigerian forces and further its agenda of establishing an independent Biafran state.

It is worth recalling that the self-proclaimed leader and prime minister of the group, Simon Ekpa, who resides in Finland, was arrested in February 2023 by Finnish police at his residence in Lahti. He was later released after being questioned for allegedly inciting violence during Nigeria’s 2023 general elections.

Again, in November 2024, Ekpa was arrested by Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and sentenced to prison by the District Court of Päijät-Häme for “spreading terrorist propaganda on social media.”

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group based in Nigeria’s South-East geopolitical zone, has long sought secession from Nigeria under the banner of the defunct Biafran state, which ceased to exist following the end of the Nigerian Civil War in 1970.
