Nigerian Army releases list of candidates for Short Service Course

The Nigerian Army (NA) has released the names of successful candidates who applied for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 49/2026.

In a statement signed by the Military Secretary (Army) on Monday, the Army directed successful candidates to log in to its recruitment website at recruitment.army.mil.ng to check their names.

“The shortlisted candidates are to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy Ribadu Campus (Old Site), Kaduna State, on 1 December 2025 and report to the Selection Board venue between 6 am and 11 am on 1 December 2025.”

Candidates are expected to bring to the venue the original and at least two photocopies of the following in a file jacket:

All academic/professional certificates, including testimonials, NYSC discharge, or valid Exemption Certificate as applicable.

Valid birth certificate as endorsed by the National Population Commission, hospital, or Local Government Council of birth, or a valid age declaration.

  • Valid certificate of state of origin.
  • Official Leave/Pass and Military Identity Card (military personnel only).
  • Letter of recommendation by Commanding Officers/Commanders (military personnel only).
  • Printed Bank Verification Number (BVN) certificate authenticated by a bank, and NIN slip/card.
  • Completed printouts from the SSCC portal, including referee forms.
  • Writing materials.
  • Three (3) pairs of blue shorts and three (3) pairs of plain white short-sleeve T-shirts.
  • A pair of white canvas shoes/trainers and three (3) pairs of white socks.
  • Bucket and toiletries.
  • A set of cutlery, including plates and drinking cups.
  • Beddings, including blankets, bedspreads, and pillowcases.
  • Four (4) copies of recent full-size coloured photographs in a standing position in suit, and four (4) recent coloured passport photographs.
  • Scratch cards for online confirmation of WAEC and/or NECO results.

The Army also stated that candidates are expected to bring a duly signed Letter of Consent from a Parent/Guardian, “declaring that they shall not claim any compensation or relief for any injury or death which may occur in the course of the activities conducted by the Selection Board.”

After certificate verification, physical, medical, and academic tests will follow, the statement added.
