Senator Adams Oshiomhole has mocked the governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki for not having a child with his wife and state’s first lady Betsy Obaseki.

Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District at the National Assembly was reacting to a statement credited to the first lady, where she was quoted as saying that Senator Monday Okpebholo, candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election, has no wife.

But in a response, Oshiomhole hit back at the Obasekis, saying he was shocked to hear the first lady say that the APC candidate has no wife, “Here is the woman who has no child; between her and Obaseki, they have no child. They are childless,” he says.

The former governor of Edo, who says he would blame anyone for being childless, called them out for “not ready to adopt.

“But people who have love for children, they go to motherless baby home and adopt children. They have not adopted and they are both in their sixties. I don’t know if their marriage is a contract, but they have no children.

Defending the flagbearer of APC in the election, the former labour leader said, “Our candidate doesn’t only have children, he has invested in the education of those children such that you watch them on live television: the first one is a lawyer, the second one is a medical doctor.”

He also disclosed that the Okpebholo, his wife, and children had publicly appeared during campaigns in some parts of the state.
