RCCG Suspends Pastor Over Homosexuality Allegation

An internal memo of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has revealed that Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa have been suspended from the church over homosexuality allegations against young people in the church.

In an internal memo dated October 28, 2024, cited by InfomediaNG, the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration has also been directed to constitute a committee to investigate the allegation and submit its reports within two weeks.

The internal memo with reference number RCCG/NO/s.04/13/vol.1 and titled: “Investigation and Suspension Regarding Allegations of Homosexuality,” and signed by the RCCG National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande, says the investigation must be carried out in accordance with the ideals of the church.

Quoting several chapters and verses in the the Holy Bible which preach against homosexuality, the memo states that, “In light of these allegations, you are now directed to conduct a thorough investigation.

“Furthermore, Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello, Dcn Oke Mayowa, and all others who are alleged are to be temporarily relieved from all of their responsibilities in all mission organs pending the outcome of this investigation, which is expected to be concluded within two weeks.

Church directs  Pastor Ayorinde Bello to step aside

Earlier, the church directed Pastor Ayorinde Bello, in a letter dated October 25, to step aside from any of the RCCG’s roles pending the conclusion of the investigation.

The letter removing Ayorinde was signed by the Secretary, RCCG PSF Global Council Laolu Oroge, and reminded Ayorinde that the allegations are punishable by law.

The letter read in part, “We write to inform you of your immediate suspension from any responsibilities within the RCCG Pastors Seed Family. This decision comes in light of the serious allegations that have materialised about your inappropriate conduct with teenage boys.”

The letter states that the allegations undermine the core values of the RCCG Pastors Seed Family.

He directed the affected pastors to “step down from your position and relinquish all associated responsibilities and privileges, including removal from all Pastors Seed Family related platforms.”

The church admonished him to cooperate with the investigation and avoid any actions that could compromise its integrity.

The latest allegations add to the list of criticisms that RCCG is facing. Recently, its General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye was heavily criticized over his position about tithing.
