China recorded the highest trademark filing in 2024. The Asian country recorded 6.97 million trademark classes, World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) data says.
China’s trademark filing is 3.3 million more than the filings of the rest of the countries that made the top 10.
The highest global trademark filing for 2024 is as follows:
- China: 6,974,065
- USA: 795,337
- Russia: 567,227
- India: 555,613
- Brazil: 468,667
- Türkiye: 399,023
- United Kingdom: 359,759
- Republic of Korea: 315,947
- Japan: 313,678
- Iran: 309,251
What is WIPO trademark filing?
Globally recognised trademark filing is done through WIPO’s Madrid application system, which allows persons or country to seek protection of their brand identifier such as a name, logo, slogan, or symbol for their national or regional trademark in up to 130 countries all at once.
WIPO lets applicants file one international application in one language, choosing from English, French, or Spanish, which is valid for use across more than 130 member countries simultaneously.
