Bitcoin Donation: List of Pineapple Fund Beneficiaries that Receive 5,057 BTC

Some times in 2017, the internet was agog about the news of an anonymous earliest bitcoin investor, who earmarked 9, 887 BTC to charity globally, and launched a website Pineapple Fund to support a diverse range of charitable courses worldwide for organizations doing anything worthwhile.

Out of the budget, 5,104 BTC had so far been disbursed to the first set of beneficiaries (watsi, The water project, BitcGive Foundation, eff, maps, open bsd foundation, sen research foundation and charity water) to support their humanitarian courses.

Getting such a large sum of Bitcoin as a donation this time is seen as the peak of kindness and generosity because btc is the most valuable digital currency that has taken the world by surprise.

The donor writes:

“What do you do when you have more money than you can ever possibly spend? Donating most of it to charity is what I’m doing. For reference, The Pineapple Fund is bigger than the entire market capof bitcoin when I got in, and one of the richest 250 bitcoin addresses today.”

So…

What are the charity organizations doing for them to have benefited from bitcoin give away by Bitcoin Whale?

watsi (Received $1million worth of bitcoin)

Watsi is a non-profit organization, which is engaged in building technology to make universal health coverage possible. It has been around for years now and has been using the power of technology to help create a world where everyone has access to care — whether that’s a life-changing surgery or a check-up.

When you think of health, think of watsi.

According to the data available to watsi, more than 400M people lack access to essential health services, and up to 40% of healthcare funding is wasted due to inefficient systems. As part of the organisation’s effort to bring efficient healthcare to those who need them, it uses real-time data to continuously improve the system by reducing costs and improving the quality of care.

Going by the efforts of watsi to make healthcare delivery and implementation accessible to those who need it, it deserves the Pineapple Fund.

The water project (Received $1million worth of bitcoin)

The water Project Inc. is another beneficiary that’s touching lives across sub-Sahara Africa by providing reliable water projects to communities that lack access to clean and proper sanitation.

The water project has been making provision for accessible water for more than a decade by also training implementation partners in countries where their impact have been felt.

It works closely with local in-country teams and partners to develop clean water programs by carefully selecting implementing partners who have long-term relationships and commitments to the people they serve.

“The water crisis is real. It’s affecting women, children, families and farmers. Women and girls in sub-Saharan Africa are spending hours a day fetching dirty water which leads to illness and disease, robbing entire communities of their futures.”

It believes that lack of access to safe water and proper sanitation could limit education and food production, “it harms health and leads to a cycle of poverty,” The water project says.

Do you know you can also support The water project?

Charity water (Received $1million worth of bitcoin)

Closely related to The Water project’s mission is Charity Water. Water is life. A legendary Afrobeat singer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, in one of his songs says, “Water to get enemy.” That is water has no enemy, we need water in our daily activities.

Charity water has been bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations over the years.

This non-profit organization believes that about 663 million people on the planet who don’t have clean water should be given access to clean and healthy water.

This charity organization isn’t happy that a huge number of people in the affected counties go miles before they could get water, and when they do the water isn’t healthy for use.

“Here, we’d like to introduce you to a few of those 663 million. They are very real, and they need our help. They didn’t choose to be born into a village where the only source of water is a polluted swamp. And we didn’t choose to be born in a country where even the homeless have access to clean water and a toilet,” Charity Water says on his website.

Pineapple Fund has actually identified with charity water’s mission and has doled out a few bitcoins to support its course.

EFF has been around since 1990 defending civil liberties in the digital world. Some of its advocacies include championing user privacy, free expression, and innovation through impact litigation, policy analysis, grassroots activism, and technology development.

EFF ensures that rights and freedoms are enhanced and protected by using technology.

It has used its fiercely independent voice to clear the way for open-source software, encryption, security research, file-sharing tools, and a world of emerging technologies.

And also continues to use the unique expertise of leading technologists, activists, and attorneys in to defend free speech online, fight illegal surveillance, advocate for users and innovators, and support freedom-enhancing technologies.

Pineapple Fund believes that eff could even do more if it’s supported. And we say congratulation to eff for getting such encouraging support from the Bitcoin philanthropist. We hope to see and hear eff’s voice in human rights issues geared towards liberating humanity from oppression.

MAPS develops psychedelics and marijuana into prescription medicines trains therapists and working to establish a network of treatment centers, supports scientific research into spirituality, creativity, and neuroscience and educates the public honestly about the risks and benefits of psychedelics and marijuana.

All these are made possible through generosity of individual donors. So we’re not surprised that MAPS is among the beneficiaries of Pineapple Fund. It needs global and individual support going by its accomplishments in psychedelics.
