The insurance companies in the United States cover several policies, from life to property and from pet insurance to Medicare. That’s why an insurance company categorized as casualty may also be found under workers compensation such as AmTrust Financial, a company with the third market share of workers’ compensation in the U.S.
Aflac is another example of an insurance company that provides property coverage and on life and annuity.

Property and Casualty Insurance
The Philadelphia Contributionship for the Insurance of Houses from Loss by Fire is the oldest property and casualty insurance company in the United States. It was founded in 1752 by one of the founding fathers of the United States, Benjamin Franklin. The company is still in operation to date.
Today, there are at least 137 property insurance companies that have strong national and regional presence across the U.S. The number should run into thousands by now if there were no incidences of bankruptcy.
Note: Some of the insurance firms on this page have licenses in each of the states where they operate.
While their major product is property and casualty, they also have other insurance and financial products that appeal to their customers. For instance, Fixed and variable annuities and life insurance are other products that are offered by Allianz Life.
