Data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says 21 states out of 36 states generated revenue from their local government areas in 2025, totaling N65.82 Billion.
Lagos State generated the highest revenue from its council areas with N16.30 Billion generated in 2025, followed by Jigawa (N10.04 Billion) while Gombe State occupied the third position with N8.92 Billion.
The states are:
1. Lagos: N16.30bn
2. Jigawa: N10.04bn
3. Gombe: N8.92bn
4. Kebbi: N4.94bn
5. Kwara: N3.43bn
6. Ondo: N3.43bn
7. Kogi: N3.12bn
8. Bauchi: N2.52bn
9. Ogun: N2.07bn
10. Edo: N2.05bn
11. Katsina: N1.80bn
12. Taraba: N1.70bn
13. Cross River: N1.45bn
14. Niger: N1.05bn
15. Enugu: N786.08m
16. Borno: N666.55m
17. Ekiti: N608.77m
