What is Safe CTR in Google Adsense

Is there really anything like Safe CTR in Google Adsense? This question is imperative because I’ve read some young webmasters expressing fears about the percentage of (Adsense) Ads that are clicked on their website.

But first..

What is CTR

The abbreviation CTR stands for Click Through Rate. Simply put, it is the number of times an ad is clicked divided by the number of times the advertisement (ad unit or the page containing the advertisement) is viewed.

CTR is the percentage of Number of clicks on advertisements and number of page views.

CTR = Number of clicks / Number of exposures.

CTR% = Number of clicks * 100 / # of exposures

In our findings, we stumbled upon one of such questions, “Do i have  safe CTR with 8.03% Click Through Rate with just 473 Page Views?

Answer:

The issue of safe CTR shouldn’t be a concern if the clicks are valid and devoid of any kind of questionable sources. This means that there should be something to worry about if, in any situation, you persuaded your colleagues or family to help you make some monies from ads placed on your site by clicking on your ads.

“The entire subject of “safe ctr” is pointless. It’s about more than a single data point,” a Google Forum expert submitted.

Does it simply mean there is nothing like safe CTR in as much the clicks aren’t accidental or other invalid clicks?

“The only “safe ctr” is 0%…beyond that it isn’t a percentage, it’s beyond that, if you have 20% CTR it’s great if behavior shows that clickers are buying, if you have 2% it will suck if those clickers are time wasters…like I said, it’s more than one data point.”

The value of your adsense clicks is more important, “If you had 1000 page impressions and 30 clicks that would be a CTR of 3%; if, however 25 of those clicks were deemed invalid then that would pose a greater risk to your account that having 100 clicks but 98 of them being of value to the advertiser.”

“Point to be noted here is that higher the percentage of CTR, the better advertisement you will get. So it’s advisable to place advertisements only at the places which are viewable and can be clicked easily.”

However, you must take these into cognizance:

(a) generating organic traffic: The natural traffic that gets clicks from people search from search engines.

(b) that traffic gets what it wants when it comes to your site and

(c) avoid misleading ad placements

The point is: play it fair and never try to cheat. If you keep to that there shouldn’t be anything to worry about the % of Click Through Rate (CTR).

Similar to the above is whether a CTR is good or not.

It’s possible to get more clicks with such a low revenue, conversely, it’s possible to have a few clicks with such a great revenue, which is dependent on ads which give good PPC (Pay Per Click), meaning a 20-click could give more revenue than 100 clicks.
