APPLY: SEED Free Solar PV Installation Training (Stream A – Cycle 1 & 2)

The application system for the Siemens Energy Education and Development (SEED) Solar PV Installation (SPVI) Training has opened for young Nigerians who want to gain hands-on skills in solar panel installation.

Stream 1 commences in September while Stream 2 will start by November 2026,. according to a statement by the organisers.

The 3-week on-site purely practical event is supported by the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP).

NESP is a technical assistance programme co-funded by the European Union and German Government and implemented by GIZ in collaboration with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Power.

Aims of the free Solar PV training

1) To strengthen the technical and practical competencies of professionals and technicians working or seeking to work in the renewable energy sector.

2) To build a pipeline of certified and industry-ready energy professionals

3) The the Siemens Energy Education and Developm is also designed to equip Nigerians with the skills required to optimise the utilisation and long-term maintenance of critical power infrastructure investments under the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI).

4) To support the development of local content capacity.

5) To create opportunities for eligible beneficiaries to acquire relevant technical skills, access resources.

6).To contribute meaningfully to the growth and sustainability of Nigeria’s power sector.

The programme will combine theoretical instruction, hands-on practical training, technical site visits and competency assessments.

Certification

Beneficiaries will get COREN Certification upon completion of training.

Who can apply?

Two years of practical experience.

No formal education is required.

No practical experience is needed.

Passionate about renewable energy

Recent graduates (ND, HND, and Undergraduate).

Training centres

SEED Training Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State

NESP Training Partner, Lagos State.

Applicants from both formal educational backgrounds and practical/experience-based pathways are encouraged to apply.

FAQs

Will accommodation be provided?

No, GIZ-NESP and Siemens Energy will not offer accommodation for trainees.

Will there be transport fare?

No, beneficiaries will incur their accommodation fair, no transportation support during the training.

Will there be menu?

Yes, free means will be provided during the three weeks training.

How much is the certification?

COREN certification will be given to beneficiaries who successfully completed the training Free!
