GIFMIS means Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS), which is a technology-based system that enable the direct payment of dues, and fines into the account of the Federal Government. It is designed to reduce the loopholes and reduce corruption to the barest minimum.
For instance, to make a payment to the Federal Ministry of Health, you will need the GIFMIS code associated with the ministry to make payments through the Treasury Single Account (TSA) system. Other agencies in the ministry also have their GIFMIS codes.
If you are making payment to the government via REMITA, you will be required to use a GIFMIS code if Remita cannot independently generate the code.
