Obi Overthrows Tinubu in Lagos
Tinubu’s defeat by Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP) is the biggest political shock during the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu is described in some quarters as the political landlord of Lagos politics.
Meanwhile, the former Lagos state governor has called on his supporters to stay calm.
There were allegations of intimidation and disruption of voting at various polling units in the commercial capital.
Despite Tinubu’s victory in 11 local government areas of Lagos, they weren’t enough to override Peter Obi’s victory in nine local government areas.
But the APC presidential candidate called for calm saying, “I’m ready to accept the outcome of the election.
“The fact that the APC narrowly lost Lagos State to another party should not be the reason for violence. As a democrat, you win some, you lose some. We must allow the process to continue unhindered across the country while we maintain peace and decorum.”
