Controversy:

He became popular when a video of him was released where he was caught slapping a lady in the face three times.

Nigerians have now termed him as a violent politician notorious for physically assaulting two females in an adult toy shop in Abuja, Nigeria.

In the CCTV video that has been widely circulated on social media, Elisha Abbo is aided by a Nigeria Police Officer in molesting the helpless lady.

At the time of this report, non-governmental organisations, concerned individuals converged on Abuja protesting and calling for his sack or removal from the National Assembly and his arrest.

“A crime is an offence against the state. The possibility that #SenatorElishaAbbo may apologise or pay compensation to the young lady doesn’t remove the criminal offence against the state. It only settles the civil side. @PoliceNG must still prosecute…but my law is rusty,” a public affairs analyst

HIV/AIDS controversy:

On February 9th, 2004, Mr. Cliff Elisha Ishaku in allafrica.com news reportedly took the authorities of the Nigerian Naval Training College, Onne, Port Harcourt to court for allegedly denying him admission into the college on the grounds of his health status despite passing the recruitment test.

Senator Ishaku Elisha Cliff Abbo hasn’t reacted to the HIV/AIDS claim against him at the time of compiling this report.

He was a former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Murtala Nyako and former Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Sports & Youths Council. 

Member of 9th National Assembly

He is the senator representing the Adamawa North Adamawa State senatorial district in Adamawa State at the Nigerian 9th National Assembly

On February 23, 2019, Abbbo was elected as the Senator representing Adamawa North, having polled 79,337 votes as against the incumbent senator, Binta Masi Garba of the APC, who scored the closest votes with 63,219.

He was sworn in on June 11, 2019, as one of the members of the 109 9th National Assembly.
