SpaceX Launches Starlink in First Arab Country (Yemen)

SpaceX has announced the launching of Starlink in Yemen, making it the first Arab country to join the high-speed internet.

The Arab country is coming on board almost four years after Starlink debuted in the United States on October 27, 2020.

Getting an operating licence and launching such technology in an Arab country is significant considering how strict regulatory laws are in the region. Other Arab countries where Starlink is not currently available are Kuwait, Algeria, Egypt, Bahrain, Djibouti, Comoros, Palestine, Iraq, Mauritania, and Jordan.

Others are Lebanon, Libya, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Tunisia, Qatar, Somalia, Sudan, and Syria.

From the continental perspective, Yemen becomes the eighth Asian country to join Starlink Internet. Earlier subscribers from the continent are Indonesia, Mongolia, Maldives, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, and Iran.

At the time of this publication, SpaceX says it now has over three million subscribers on its network.

Yemen, a South Asian country, with over 33 million population, has an existing 8.24 million internet users as of January 2022, according to datareportal.com

The world’s most advanced high-speed internet has also gone beyond launching in countries but has continued to partner with reputable airlines to make its Wifi available while in the sky. United Airlines is on its network radar.
