How I lost over N500, 000-Nigerian Chinese-based Muhammad Ameen
Is MMM Nigeria a fraud or legit online investment?
That’s the question every inquisitive potential MMM investor wants an answer to. I actually wanted to know how trending this online investment fraud is in Nigeria, headed straight to Google News to input MMM Nigeria into the search space.
The results are alarming, still some Nigerians are seeing those who tell them that MMM Nigeria is a fraud as an enemy of progress.
In early September, 2016, SEC warns:
“The attention of SEC, Nigeria has been drawn to the activities of an online investment scheme tagged ‘MMM Federal Republic of Nigeria (nigeria.mmm.net). The platform has embarked on an aggressive online media campaign to lure the investing public to participate in what it called ‘mutual aid financial network’ with a monthly investment return of 30 per cent.
“The commission hereby notifies the investing public that the operation of this investment scheme has no tangible business model hence it’s a Ponzi Scheme, where returns are paid from other people’s invested sum. Also, its operation is not registered by the Commission.”
Though the Security Exchange Commission, SEC, issued strong warnings to Nigerians, the bad publicity and the failure of MMM Global in South Africa, China, Zimbabwe, and other countries weren’t enough to discourage some Nigerians from putting all their hard monies in MMM Global Nigeria.
But, Nigerians are not easy to convince that an investment is risky when they’ve dubiously benefited from such deal.
An investor in the MMM Nigeria, Muhammad Musa Aminho, tells us that MMM is a global online investment fraud.
He reveals to infobase how he lost N550, 000 to MMM Global Nigeria in his bid to get 30% interest of the said amount.
What is the full meaning of MMM?
MMM stands for Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox and takes its name from its founder, Sergei Panteleevich Mavrodi of Russia. |
MMM has a tradition: It gives 30% interest as promised to the small investors. The small investors invariably turn to be the mouthpieces for the online investment fraud.
We embarked on a fact finding mission on MMM Global, which is trending on Google search since its penetration to Nigeria.
Our focus was to get those who have used MMM before and were ready to share their experiences: ugly or financially sweet.
In our research we found out that those who still have fervent believe in the 30% interest efficacy of MMM are small investors; while those who have been defrauded by MMM are simply the big investors.
For instance, I have a friend who had invested N20, 000 and was able to get the interest. Though he’s yet to invest another one, maybe he’s still watching the MMM market.
We came across one of the big investors who put in N550,000 into MMM, Muhammad Musa Aminho, who is a Nigerian based in China.
What can you say about MMM Nigeria?
First of all MMM is major global online investment scam. In fact, it’s the scam of the century.
How is it scam when it pays 30% interest on any amount invested?
Yes, they do according to my friend who introduced MMM Nigeria to me. You know when you tried something once and got the interest, definitely you’d be immersed into putting bigger amount believing that the more you put, the more you get.
I never knew anything about MMM until one of my friends who had got 30% interest on the amount he invested introduced it me.
He showed me the evidence of payment, and I said, “Ok let me give it a try it”. Then, I had some dollars equivalent to N550,000 which I wasn’t using. So, I decided to invest the money since I wasn’t using it at that time.
I invested that money thinking it’d grow for me to withdraw later. After a month I applied for a withdrawal but I couldn’t get it, two months gone still the same problem.
At that point, I submitted a complaint unfortunately I was told that their server had minor problem which they promised to fix. I waited for another month, but nothing again.
What about the person that introduced you to the online investment?
Yes, he lost big time. Because he had been trying and was working for him, he was investing big money until he finally lost virtually all the interest he’d been getting.
He finally lost close to five million naira.
Before you started investing in MMM, did you try to carry out any research as regards its success and failure in other countries?
I started with MMM early January 2016. I heard about the strong warnings Chinese government issued her citizens about MMM in China after I had invested. Even then my friend was still smiling considering the interest he’s was getting.
And what action did you take after you heard the warnings?
Since I couldn’t withdraw immediately, I waited for a month, but I couldn’t. I tried till April 2016, but with no positive result. It got to a stage I was told to invest another N550,000 for me to get my initial investment and interest, that’s when I gave up and began to realise that I’d been defrauded.
How reliable and verifiable are what you’ve been telling us about MMM?
All I’ve been telling you and saying are my experiences with MMM. And they’re the fact with strong evidence.
If you like you can quote me, mention my name, and I’m ready to let out more information about the fraudulent nature of MMM to anybody who wants to know the tactics used by MMM to defraud its investors.
My friends and I are sources; you can quote and mention our names. But I’ll have to seek their consent before I give you their names if they’d want their names in print.
If anybody is trying to disregard this interview as being malicious, I can bring to you at least 30 big investors in China who have lost huge money in the process of investing in MMM.
I have more than enough sources to authenticate your research.
Why is it that small investors who invested something like N20, 000-N50,000 back here in Nigeria are yet to complain, or cry of losing any money, why big investors do?
Pardon me to say this: some of we Nigerians are smart when it comes to the issue of money, after all most of these classes of people are not intelligent.
If an average Nigerian invested N10, 000 and got N13,000 the next day, that’s all. You can’t tell him anything contrary to that again. If you insisted that what he’s investing in is fraud, then you automatically become the enemy of progress to him.
Let me give you an instance: I tried N10, 000 today, then I got N13, 000 tomorrow definitely I’ll say “wow” MMM is real. The next day I invested N50, 000 and I got my 30% interest on top, on and on…, trust I’ll begin to preach MMM to my friends. And that’s how Ponzi Scheme operates.
That’s why it’s difficult to convince some Nigerians who still invest in MMM that it’s a scam.
So, let’s dig deeper into the online integrity of MMM in this review.

With all the warnings by the government, individuals who know how MMM or Ponzi Scheme operates, some beneficiaries of MMM Nigeria disregarded SEC’s warnings, saying:
When bank deduct several money/charges from your account for nothing…it is not a scam.
When governors refuses to pay salaries and yet they move in convoy and drive cars with the millions of naira is a scam. When they claim to be fighting terrorism and send soldiers without enough ammunitions to die but share arms money amongst themselves while chibok girls are been used as sex slaves…. I’m not sure if he really participated in mmm. because I’ve been in to mmm since February 2016 started with 50k, and I’m doing 2m naira monthly now since August without any problems. I think you pple should just leave us alone with ur propaganda and find something nice to do with ur time. The only scam here is the nigeria government. The nigeria bank scam all everyday nobody sees that. Nigeria government deducted housing fee scheme from us we did not see the money we fid not see the house.what about pension schemes we all know the story. If at all mmm is a scam it’s fine by us,after all its a personal decision.
Well, that’s not a theory. And we’re not here to discourage anyone. We are ready to make available the audio interview with had with him. And if you got us right, we mentioned that success stories about MMM Nigeria do exist. We wish you all the best.
