Nigeria’s agency in charge of registering and keeping compliance-related records of companies and businesses has disclosed that it would strike off 100,000 defaulters from its database.
The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) stated this Thursday, July 16, 2026, on its social media platforms.
The move, which is a routine exercise by the commission, usually delist companies and businesses that failed to update their records on the CAC portal for several years.

This isn’t the first time, it is a routine exercise to keep business records updated on its database. In fact, the latest intention to strike off companies is the batch 6 of the exercise. Similar exercise had earlier been implemented.
The exercise is in pursuant to the provisions of Section 692 (3) and(4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.

To prevent your companies from being struck off from CAC database you have to file all outstanding returns and update the records of “Persons with Significant Control/Beneficial Ownership information) and regularize their records within ninety (90) days of this notice.”
