Until the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) released a public statement Wednesday, October 27, 2021, that it would be auctioning some properties linked to Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum Resources, most people never knew there was a lady’s bra as expensive as $12.5 million.
For your information….$12.5million is NGN7,000,000,000 at the parallel market at USD/NGN560, yeah you read it correctly.
So, the Rivers State-born former Oil Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke had his bras, wristwatch, earrings, customized gold iPhone, mansions worth several billions of naira listed for sale by Nigeria’s anti-graft agency.
Did she actually wear NGN7billion worth of bra? If YES, could she have left it behind before jetting out to the UK in 2015? How did she make so much money?
Let’s get started…
Corruption and embezzlement by political office holders no longer make exciting news to Nigerians, some people would “na dem” but Madam Madueke’s news did when EFCC said, braziers, bras were among the recovered items from her exotic mansion across the country, but no one knows if she owns a gold-coated or diamond bra.
What’s the Worth of The Bra?
While the anti-corruption agency didn’t make public the worth of the bra, news filtered in that it wasn’t just an ordinary bra, but a uniquely made one on request from the United States of America, where the maker of the world’s most expensive bra maker is based.
A check on Guinness World Records shows that Heavenly Star Bra is the costliest bra ever made in human history. It’s said to be worth $12.5million (USD) or £8.5million (GBP). If converted to naira using the CBN rate of USD/NGN410.25, that gives you NGN5,128,125,000 at the time of this report.
Who is the maker?
Victoria’s Secret is the maker of Heavenly Star Bra. A further check shows that the company is headquartered in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, United States.
According to a report, the bra which was created in 2001 is said to contain 1,200 Sri Lankan pink sapphires and a 90-carat emerald cut diamond
Victoria’s Secret is famous for making exotic bras specially designed for billionaires who want class and want to have a special definition of how fashion, even though is underwear.
The company in 2005 yet again made what it called 2005 Sexy Splendor Fantasy Bra that’s worth the same price as the 2001 bra, it was gathered that the 2001 bra is far expensive than 2005.
When it was first made public in 2001, it was televised where Heidi Klum wore her second Fantasy Bra.
In Africa, Candice Swanepoel, a South African born supermodel model wore another expensive bra called Royal Fantasy Bra, is said to be worth $10million, which was aired in December 2013.
So…
Who owns the most expensive bra in Nigeria?
In October, Nigeria’s anti-graft agency listed bra as one of the belongings of the ex-crude oil minister that would be auctioned.
The actual cost of the bra wasn’t stated, as such, Nigeria assumed that that something must be special about the bra for the EFCC to have listed it for auction. Nigerians took to social media to circulate photo of Heavenly Star Bra, claiming that it belonged to the Mrs Madueke
Diamond bra wasn’t among properties we recovered from Madueke – EFCC
EFCC boss, Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Wednesday, November 17, 20201, said there was no diamond bra recovered from the wanted ex minister. It took the agency one month the dispel the rumour.
“There was nothing like diamond bra. It’s a creation of social media. I’m not aware of it. If there is something on that, I should know because I led the search and all of that.”
But 11 invisible bras, 30 braziers, 73 veils, 11 suits, 125 wedding gowns, 13 small gowns, 41 waist trainers, and 64 pairs of shoes, and properties located in Banana Island Foreshore Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, were some of the properties traced to her by the anti-graft agency.
How true is this?
Sometimes in 2015, a few months after leaving office as a minister, she granted an interview that she is managing cancer, that she owns no billion anywhere.
But she hasn’t made attempt to come back home to defend herself over the allegation that she swindled Nigeria’s government of $2.5billion when she was a minister. Though she was once a board member of the Shell Petroleum Development Corporation (SPDC), we’re not sure she could make such huge money that could liberate an entire state from the shackles of poverty.
