UPDATED: Bola Tinubu’s Ministers and Their Portfolios

President Bola Tinubu released the list of his ministers on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, with his long-time align Wale Edun as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

Cabinet be inauguration: Monday, August 21, 2023

Cabinet reshuffle: Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Five ministers were dismissed. Seven new ministers were appointed while 10 ministers were redeployed to new ministries.

  • Kashim Shettima Mustapha (GCON): Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria
  • Olufemi Hakeem Gbajabiamila: Chief of Staff to The President
  • Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF): George Akume
  • National Security Adviser (NSA): Nuhu Ribadu
  • All Ministers of the Federal Ministries in Nigeria

Here is the full list of Bola Tinubu’s ministers and their portfolios:

1) Adebayo Olawale Edun: Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy

2) Bosun Tijani: Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy

3) Bunmi Tunji Ojo: Minister of Interior. He was redeployed from Marine and Blue Economy to Interior, following minor adjustments in portfolios on Sunday, August 16.

4) Adedayo Adelabu: Minister of Power

5) Dr. Jumoke Oduwole: Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment. Jumoke replaced Doris Anite, who has now been redeployed as Minister of State for Finance.

6) David Umahi: Minister of Works

7) Mohammed Badaru: Minister of Defence

8) Tahir Maman: Minister of Education. Prof Tahir was sacked on October 23, 2024. The former Minister of State for Health Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa is now the new Minister of Education effective October 23, 2024, while Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad is now the Minister of State for Education.

9) Abubakar Kyari: Minister of Agriculture and Food Security

10) Atiku Bagudu: Minister of Budget and Economic Planning

11) Ali Pate: Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare

12) Festus Keyamo: Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development

13) Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi: Minister of Labour and Employment. Maigari replaces Simon B. Lalong, who resigned from Tinubu’s cabinet on December 18, 2023, to resume as a Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial after winning an appeal court ruling dated November 7, 2023.

14) Muhammed Idris: Minister of Information and National Orientation

15) Lateef Fagbemi: Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice

16) Heineken Lokpobiri: Minister of State (Oil), Petroleum Resources (formerly Minister of State, Petroleum Resources)

17) Dr. Salako Iziaq Adekunle Adeboye: Minister of State for Health. He was previously the Minister of State, Environment 

18) Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu – Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. She was appointed on October 23, 2024.

19) Adegboyega Oyetola: Minister of Marine and Blue Economy (SW) (he was redeployed from the Ministry of Transportation).

20) Uche Nnaji: Minister of Innovation Science and Technology

21) Nkiruka Onyejeocha: Minister of State, Labour and Employment

22) Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim: Minister of Women Affairs. Imaan was the former Minister of State for Police Affairs. She replaces Uju Kennedy, who was sacked as Minister of Women Affairs on October 23, 2024.

23) Abubakar Momoh: Minister of Regional Development. He was the Minister of Niger Delta Development, until the Niger Delta Ministry was scrapped on October 23, 2024.

24) Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda: Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. He was appointed on October 23, 2024, replacing Betta Edu, who was suspended on January 9, 2024, and she is now being investigated for financial mismanagement.

25) Ekperikpe Ekpo: Minister of State (Gas), Petroleum Resources. (She was formerly Minister of State, Gas Resources).

26) John Enoh: Minister of State for Trade and Investment (Industry). He was the Minister of Sports Development until the Sports Ministry was scrapped on October 23, 2024, and sporting activities were handed-over to the National Sports Commission.

Shehu Dikko was immediately appointed the Chairman of the National Sports Commission. He was the former Chairman of the League Management Committee (LMC).

27) Nyesom Wike: Minister of Federal Capital Territory

28) Hannatu Musawa: Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy

29) Bello Matawalle: Minister of State Defence

30) Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad: Minister of State Education, replacing Yusuf T. Sunumu (now the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction)

31) Ahmed M. Dangiwa: Minister of Housing and Urban Development

32) Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata: Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development. He replaces Abdullah T. Gwarzo who was among the five dismissed ministers.

33) Mairiga Mahmud: Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory

34) Bello M. Goronyo: Minister of State for Works. He was previously the Minister of State, Water Resources and Sanitation until October 23, 2024

35) Sa’Idu A. Alkali: Minister of Transportation (NE) (moved from the Ministry of Interior)

36) Yusuf M. Tuggar: Minister of Foreign Affairs

37) Maigari Ahmadu: Minister of State for Regional Development. He was redeployed as Minister of State, Steel Development to the new ministry of regional development.

38) Shuaibu A. Audu: Minister of Steel Development

39) Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim: Minister of Women Affairs. She was previously the Minister of State, Police Affairs.

40) Joseph Utsev: Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation

41) Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi: Minister of State, Agriculture and Food Security

42) Ibrahim Geidam: Minister of Police Affairs

43) Tunisia Alausa: Minister of State, Health and Social Welfare

44) Dele Alake: Minister of Solid Minerals Development

46) Ayodele Olawande: Federal Ministry of Youth. He takes over from Jamila Bio Ibrahim. Jamila was sacked on October 23, 2024.

47) Idi Mukhtar Maiha: Minister of Livestock Development (a new ministry)

48) Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu: Palausareviously Minister of State for Education, is now the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction

49) Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite: Minister of State for Finance. She was previously Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment until the October 23, 2024 cabinet reshuffle by the president.

Note: Tinubu announced the nomination of Jamial and Ayodele on Sunday, September 17, their names were to be sent to the National Assembly for screening and approval.

Lola Ade-John was the Minister of Tourism until October 23, 2024, when her ministry was merged with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy. She was among the five ministers who were sacked by the president the same day.
