Sex for grades lecturers can be found in every Nigeria’s tertiary institutions: University, Polytechnic, Colleges of Education.
We’ve compiled the list of university teachers in Nigeria who preyed on their female students. They demanded sex or attempted to demand such for grades.
A commentator while reacting to the trend of demanding sex for grades said, “No wonder most of our graduates can’t handle or defend their degrees in their field of study. Most of our lecturers don’t teach. They are busy running after their students.”
The bad behaviour had been going on among male lecturers for a long time, but the latest BBC’s Africa Eye sex-for-grades documentary video by Kiki Mordi exposed lots of dirty deals in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
The University of Lagos and another in Ghana were culpable in the documentary. It is worst in the polytechnic and colleges of education where sex is traded for marks.

What’s Nigeria’s government doing about sex for grades lecturers?
In May 2016, Nigeria’s Senate considered a bill that would slam a five-year jail term on lecturers who exploit students sexually. But the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) umbrella body of teachers at Nigerian universities kicked against it.
However, President MuhammaduBuhari who spoke on sex for grades has promised to support the National Assembly when they come up with Bill to prosecute offenders.
Sexual harassment isn’t a Nigerian exclusive problem, it is also an epidemic in UK universities as reported in 2017.
Above all, sex for grades lecturers are found in the universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, even they can be found in secondary schools.
