9mobile, formerly known as Etisalat, is one of the telecom firms that received the National Identity Number registration licence from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) recently.
The move by NIMC is to ease the process of the enrolment process. The population is huge than what the commission can handle all alone.
MTN, GLO, and Airtel also got NIN enrolment licence following the announcement by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) that mobile line not linked to the NIN will be blocked by February 2021.
