National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) released a list of partners that will assist in bringing more Nigerians on the National ID database, commercial banks are some of the partners.
This means you can register for your national identity card at any designated bank closer to you. You don’t have a customer of the bank.
As the announcement was made, some banks released a list of their designated branches where one can enrol for the national ID card.
Requirements To Enrol For NIN In Bank
While you can walk into any of the branches of the bank closer to you, you should also know that the registration isn’t free, though you are not required to make any direct payment.
- Here are the requirements for the registration:
- You have to open a bank account in the bank where you wish to enroll
- You have to deposit at least N2,000 naira in the new account
Despite the fact that some banks announced that they’re partnering with the NIMC, the enrolment isn’t free at any of their branches unless you already bank with them.

Is this information real? I visited one of my banks @ Wise in Abuja, FCT. I was told they were not aware that banks can register customers and non customers for National Identity Card ( (NIN)

Yes, it is, according to NIMC. All banks are partners, including major telecom firms, maybe they are yet to get the gadget for the enrolment process.
