Ibadan Electricity Distribution (IBEDC) like other electricity distribution companies in Nigeria is designed to not deliver the same efficiency to their customers.

Some customers are on Band A feeders and enjoy a minimum of 20 hours of electricity power day, which the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says constitute less than 15% of electricity consumers in Nigeria. Others are on B, C, D, and E.

Someone who resides in Idi-Ayunre part of the Oluyole Local Government Area of Ibadan is definitely on Band E feeder. Some times, that they enjoy less than two hours of electricity per day, even though they should be having at least four hours of power supply. If you don’t know which category you belong, check this post for details.

Wrapping up

I was having a conversation with a friend the day the NERC announced the hike in the price of electricity tariff and he said he hardly enjoys an hour of power supply in his location. Across Nigeria, some consumers depend on alternative source of power to get things done.

Will the regulatory body take appropriate sanctions against the power distribution companies?
