Lazy Nigerian Youths got 2,510,000 Google search results within 0.31seconds at about 0500Hours on Thursday, April 26, 2018, making it the most trending issue since the beginning of the year.

The hashtag #LazyNigerianYouths dominated social media after Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari made a comment at the 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting which held in the United Kingdom.

“About the economy, we have a very young population, our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. This is a very conservative one.

“More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free,” Buhari said when he’s asked why he didn’t sign the African Continental Free Trade Agreement in Rwanda.

The statement provoked the youths, who took to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to display what they’ve been doing for a living since they couldn’t find white collar job, exclusively meant for those who are close to political heavyweights in the country.

Similarly, the social media rage has got a special page on Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Buhari’s Lazy Nigerian Youths comment was first reported by Mayowa Tijani, the only Nigerian journalist allowed to attend the business forum.
