The hashtag #Bitcoin was trending in Nigeria Monday, August 10, 2020, with more than 49K tweets as BTC price breached the $12,000 on trading markets around the World.
The $12K was bitcoin’s highest weekly close since after it hit $20,000 a weeks ago. It picked from its $11,750 to $12,068, according to Bitcoin Price Index on major trading platforms.
Nigerians in their hundreds took to the microblogging platform to show their excitement and how they could tap into the digital assets potentials.
It was trending as a result of bitcoin giveaways by some traders and cryptocurrency enthusiasts
At the time of this report, bitcoin is trading at $12,000 before dropping a few dollars to stay at $11,746.
If it manages to surpass the $12,000 level, the next target would be the high of $12,325 reached early in August 2019.
Bitcoin ended last week Sunday at $11,683 – the highest weekly close since January 2018.
The new price is a signal for some digital assets investors, analysts say.
