Link NIN To Your Glo Line By Sending This Simple SMS

A few days ago, the Nigerian Communication Commission directed that telecom subscriber to link their National Identity Number to their phone number.

One of the telecom firms released an update on its social media channels on how to easily link NIN to your GLO line by sending a text message.

Subscribers of MTN have also been guided on how to link their MTN phone number to their NIN via a link or using USSD code.

So how can I link my GLO phone number to my NIN?

To prevent your GLO line from being blocked by NCC follow the SMS format below

Simply send “UPDATENIN, NIN, First name, Last name” to 109

Note: Compose this inform of Ta Text Message and send to 109

You would receive a message, “Dear esteemed customer, your NIN has been successfully received”, this is an acknowledgement that your NIN has been submitted. You’ll be updated


If you have more than one GLO line, send the same message to 109 on the line you want to link with your NIN or visit gloworld.com/ng/nin. All Glo numbers must send the message to 109.

The disclosure was made on Twitter by the Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has given telecommunications operators (MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9Mobile and others) in the country two weeks to block all SIM cards that are not registered with the National Identity Numbers (NIN), the Commission has said in a statement,” he tweeted.

Shedding more light on the new directive, Director of Public Affairs at NCC Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde explained that the decision was to consolidate the achievements of 2019 SIM registration audit and improve the performance and sanity of the sector.

In a statement he said:

“Following the earlier directive on the suspension of new SIM registration by network operators, the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami) convened an urgent meeting of key stakeholders in the Communications industry on Monday, December 14, 2020.

Fraudsters are likely to explore the loopholes in the ongoing NIN-SIM registration, we urge you to be careful on the code you dial on your line.

Customer support of GLO will never ask for your details via phone call or through text message.
