Mineral Resources in Akwa Ibom State

In 2021, Akwa Ibom State received NGN91.16 billion as derivation revenue from the Federal Government. Although the state is blessed with 11 major mineral resources, crude oil is the major resource that generates the most revenue for the state.

Crude oil contributes more to the economy of the state makes Akwa Ibom state the third largest producer of crude oil in Nigeria. Apart from the natural resources that are found in the Land of Promise, the state is a host to both the metallic and non-metallic minerals which can be found across the local government areas in the state.
