The Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development (MSMD) is set up in 1985 with the mandate to identify Nigeria’s solid minerals and formulate policies that will enable the country to unlock the economic potentials of the solid minerals sub-sector.
The agencies of MSMD are:
Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG)
Mining Cadastre Office (MCO)
Nigerian Geological Survey Office (NGSA)
Nigerian Institute of Mining Geosciences (NIMG)
Solid Minerals Development Fund (SMDF)
Mr. Dele Alake is the incumbent Minister of Solid Minerals Development.
