Senator Omotayo Alasoadura was born on August 12, 1949, and hails from Ondo State. As a Chartered Accountant, Senator Alasoadura began his career in 1974 as a messenger at Balogun, Ayanfalu, Badejo, and Co (Chartered Accountants) and rose to become the Managing Partner and CEO of the same firm, within sixteen years.

He was appointed as Commissioner for Finance and Planning between 2003- 2009 and afterward represented Ondo Central Senatorial District in the Upper Legislative House between 2015 and 2019.

Omotayo’s Early Life

As a young boy, Omotayo began his primary education at St Stephens Primary School, Iju, there he got his First School Leaving Certificate in 1961.

He went on to attend Ajuwa Grammar School, Akoko where he obtained his West Africa School Certificate in 1967.

Omotayo qualified and obtained the Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) of England Certificate as well as that of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria(ICAN) in 1974.

His Career

Before his political career, Omotayo Donald worked as a chartered accountant with a number of firms.

At Balogon Badejo and co. an Auditing Firm, he was an Articled Clerk from where he rose in 2002 to become a Managing Partner.

He was later appointed as the Commissioner for Finance and Planning in Ondo State from 2003-2009.

Omotayo contested for the seat of the Ondo Central Senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressive Congress(APC) in the 2015 elections and emerged victoriously.

His Legislative Interests include Oil and Gas, and Finance. He was the Chairman, Senate Committee on Upstream Petroleum.

His Personal Life.

Senator Omotayo Alasoadura Donald was married to his lovely wife, late Mrs Adetayo Alasoadura. The marriage is blessed with children and grandchildren.

His appointment by President Buhari

On August 21, 2019, he was among over 40 ministerial nominees sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja.

He was first appointed as the Minister of State for Labour and Employment but later moved to the ministry of Niger Delta as a minister of state.
