Ruona Meyer’s Allegation Against Mordi That She ‘Stole’ The Idea

A few months after the release of the tape, another female investigative journalist, Ruona Meyer, took to Twitter to accuse Mordi of stealing the idea behind the documentary.

The “BBC Africa Eye: Sex For Grades” Documentary brought global fame to Mordi, but Meyer claimed that she (Mordi) wasn’t the brain behind the project.

In 2019, after gathering dozens of testimonies, BBC Africa Eye sent Kiki Mordi as an undercover journalist, to the University of Lagos and the University of Ghana to pose like a female student seeking admission to expose the randy manner in which male lecturers sexually abuse female students.

The lecturers who spread across Nigeria’s higher institutions sprayed on female students in exchange for marks or special treatment.

Since the premiere of the documentary, global awards flooded the doorstep of Mordi for her audacious brilliance in exposing randy Nigerian lecturers.

Some of the awards are:

  • Emmy Nom,
  • OkayAfrica’s 100 Women 2020 List
  • MTV EMA Changemaker among others

But Meyer dragged her on Twitter claiming Mordi wasn’t the real brain behind the project.
